Use this article to plan Ingrid Care testing and go-live, so every configured flow works end to end before your shoppers use it.
This article is for merchants in phases 4 and 5 of an Ingrid Care implementation, including the warehouse and customer service teams who will work in Ingrid Care daily. Testing and go-live are phases 4 and 5 of your Ingrid Care implementation. You lead both. Ingrid supports, helps resolve what you find, and runs hypercare alongside you after launch.
Phase 4: Ingrid Care testing
Ingrid Care testing has a characteristic worth planning around: a return is a long transaction. It starts with a shopper in the Returns Portal, part of Ingrid Care, and does not finish until money moves or a replacement ships. Testing only the first half tells you very little.
Test each Ingrid Care flow you configured, end to end, and test them separately — they branch from the same entry point but behave differently after it.
Test each Ingrid Care flow completely
Return — register in the Returns Portal, get a label, send it back, mark it received, and confirm the refund reaches the shopper.
Exchange — including what the shopper is offered instead of a refund, and that the replacement is dispatched.
Claim — a damaged or faulty item, including whatever evidence your policy asks for.
Complaints, if in scope.
Also verify in Ingrid Care testing
Policy actually applies. Try a return outside the window, and a product with its own policy. Being unable to return something is a result worth testing, not just being able to.
Who pays is correct — test each Ingrid Care price setup, including any conditional cases.
Labels generate for every return carrier product, in every market. As with outbound shipping, one carrier working says little about the next.
Emails fire and read correctly in every language. Which Ingrid Care emails send follows from your configuration, so this is a test of the configuration as much as the templates.
Returns Portal wording is your wording, in every language you serve.
The resolution path you chose works — either returned-item events arrive from your systems, or your warehouse staff can complete an inspection in Quality check and trigger the outcome.
Test Ingrid Care with a real refund. A return that reaches "received" but never pays the shopper is not a working return, and refund behavior depends on your payment setup rather than on Ingrid alone. Include at least one genuine end-to-end refund per payment method before you launch.
Your team needs Ingrid Care training, not just testing
Ingrid Care differs from Ingrid Promise, Ingrid Engage, and Ingrid Transport in one important way: Ingrid Care is a platform your people work in, not only a configuration that runs by itself. Warehouse staff process returns, and customer service answers questions about them.
So treat Ingrid Care testing as the moment those teams learn the workflows, not just the moment defects are found. Of the four Ingrid products, Ingrid Care has the highest training need.
Phase 5: Ingrid Care go-live
The list below shows what happens at Ingrid Care go-live.
Plan how you will test future changes. Ingrid Care has no separate staging environment. If you want somewhere to test changes after go-live, set up a test shop: an additional shop in the same environment. See Care: configuration.
Publish the Returns Portal link where shoppers will look for it — order confirmation emails, your help pages, account area, and delivery notifications.
Brief your customer service team. Ingrid Care generates contacts in a way Ingrid Promise does not, and the people answering them need to know what the Returns Portal does before shoppers start using it.
Choose your rollout shape. All markets at once, or a pilot market first. See Big bang or phased.
Hypercare. Ingrid runs hypercare alongside you afterward. Ingrid Care benefits from this particularly, because policy edge cases only appear once real shoppers meet them.
Handover. When hypercare ends, the Ingrid Customer Success and Support teams become your ongoing contacts, and your own team owns the policy from there.
What Ingrid Care go-live produces
When Ingrid Care go-live is complete, you have:
Every configured Ingrid Care flow working end to end, including the money
A Returns Portal in your brand voice, in every market you serve
Warehouse and customer service teams trained on the workflows they will use daily
A test shop for trying future changes, if you set one up
A return policy your own team can change without a ticket
