This article will explain how to do carrier mapping and why is it essential for the proper functioning of the Ingrid Tracking Widget.

Before orders could be tracked in Ingrid Tracking Widget, the carrier product that is being used for the delivery must be linked to a carrier product reference. This reference can be any string, but for all orders booked with the same carrier product, it should be the same.

These mappings can be created in the Ingrid Merchant Platform (Delivery Tracking > Features) and there are two ways to do it - you can use one of the carrier products already defined by Ingrid, or create a custom configuration.

Using existing carrier product

Here you can enter your carrier product reference and select the corresponding carrier product. After selecting your desired carrier product, you will be able to see the status of the Ingrid tracking integration for this product.

To map an existing carrier product:

  1. Click Add new. The Add new carrier product mapping form opens.

  2. In Carrier product reference, enter your reference (for example DHL_EXPR).

  3. Leave Use custom mapping switched off.

  4. In Carrier product, start typing the carrier name (for example dhl) and select the carrier product from the list (for example DHL Express Domestic Express).

  5. Check Tracking config status and, if needed, switch on Always show tracking links.

  6. Click Add. The mapping appears in your list of carrier product mappings, with the carrier product reference, the carrier product, its tracking status and a toggle.

Below we present three possible statuses of the tracking integration:

  1. Fully configured - carrier product is fully configured and ready to be tracked

  2. Ready to configure - product is integrated but requires additional custom configuration. If you get such a status, please ask Iris, Ingrid's AI assistant, in the chat on the Ingrid Help Center. Iris can hand your request over to the Ingrid team, who will apply all necessary settings and enable the tracking for this carrier product. If you can't reach Iris, email [email protected].

  3. Unavailable - product is not yet integrated for tracking but don't worry - in that case, Ingrid will show the carrier's tracking links instead. Below we explained how to do it.

Creating custom mapping

If your desired carrier product isn't contained in Ingrid's list of available products, or if you want to show custom tracking links, you may want to create a custom mapping. Here is how to do it:

  1. Click Add new. The Add new carrier product mapping form opens.

  2. In Carrier product reference, enter your reference (for example my-custom-product).

  3. Switch on Use custom mapping. The Tracking links URLs fields appear.

  4. In the Default row, enter your tracking URL with the <tracking_number> placeholder (for example https://my-tracking.se/<tracking_number>).

  5. To add a URL for a specific locale, click Add new under the URLs, select the locale (for example fi-FI) and enter its URL (for example https://my-tracking.fi/<tracking_number>). To remove a locale URL, click the trash icon next to it.

  6. If needed, switch on Always show tracking links.

  7. Click Add. The custom mapping appears in your list of carrier product mappings.

If needed, you can add separate URLs for every locale. Please remember that every custom URL needs to contain a <tracking_number> placeholder. It will be filled with the shipment's tracking number by Ingrid.
