Category labels let you explain your delivery options right in checkout. This article covers the two label types, including the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, and how to set them up in the Ingrid Merchant Platform (IMP).
What are category labels?
A category label is a small badge on a delivery category in checkout. It helps shoppers see the difference between delivery options at a glance, for example which option is the most sustainable or which one is your own branded delivery.
There are two types of category labels:
Custom labels: fully flexible labels you create yourself, with your own name, description, colors and an icon from a predefined list.
Nordic Swan Ecolabel: a predefined label for delivery options certified with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, so shoppers can easily spot sustainable shipping choices.
Each label has:
Element | What it does |
Name | The label text shown in checkout |
Short description | Extra context shown when a shopper hovers over the label (or taps it on mobile) |
Light mode color / Dark mode color | The label color in each display mode |
Icon | A symbol from a predefined list |
You can preview a label before applying it, translate its name and description into multiple languages, and set each label to active (shown in checkout) or disabled (hidden).
Add a category label
In the IMP, go to Delivery Checkout → Delivery Categories.
Select a region.
Open an existing delivery category, or add a new one.
Scroll down to Labels and click Add new.
Enter a name and choose the label type.
Click the label name to edit it: set the short description, colors and icon, and use the preview to check how it looks.
To translate the label, select a locale and enter the name and description in that language.
If the category has several labels, drag and drop them into order. The top label appears first (on the left) in checkout.
Add the Nordic Swan Ecolabel
Follow the steps above, and in step 4 choose the Nordic Swan Ecolabel as the label type. Add it to the delivery category that holds your certified delivery option, add translations if you need them, and make sure the label is set to active.
Only use the Nordic Swan Ecolabel on certified delivery options. It is a certification mark, so add it only to delivery options your carrier has certified with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel for that market. Check with your carrier if you're unsure.
To check which Bring, PostNord and Posti services are certified, and in which markets, see Nordic Swan Ecolabel: certified carrier deliveries.
If you don't see the Nordic Swan Ecolabel as a label type, contact your Ingrid contact.
