Use this article to check which carrier delivery services are certified with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, in which markets, and how to show the label correctly in your checkout. It covers the certified Bring, PostNord and Posti services, and the general rules from Nordic Ecolabelling.
To add the label to your checkout in the Ingrid Merchant Platform, see Understanding and utilising category labels in Ingrid Merchant Platform.
What is the Nordic Swan Ecolabel?
The Nordic Swan Ecolabel is the official ecolabel of the Nordic countries. It is called Svanen in Sweden, Svanemærket in Denmark, Svanemerket in Norway and Joutsenmerkki in Finland.
Under the Nordic Swan Ecolabel licence for e-commerce logistics, carriers can have specific delivery services certified. A certified delivery service meets strict requirements on climate performance and energy efficiency. When a delivery service is certified, you as a merchant may show the Nordic Swan Ecolabel next to that delivery option, for example in checkout.
Why show the Nordic Swan Ecolabel in checkout?
Showing the Nordic Swan Ecolabel helps shoppers spot the sustainable delivery options in your checkout. According to the Nordic Consumer Survey (IPSOS, 2022), quoted in the Nordic Ecolabelling guidelines:
95% of Nordic consumers know the Nordic Swan Ecolabel.
61% trust a product labeled with it to be a good and sound eco-choice.
60% look for the label when they choose between products.
Which carriers are certified?
Three carriers have Nordic Swan Ecolabel certified delivery services: Bring, PostNord and Posti. The table below shows the certified services and the market each one applies to.

Rules for using the Nordic Swan Ecolabel
Use the Nordic Swan Ecolabel only on certified delivery services, in the certified market. In the Ingrid Merchant Platform, the Nordic Swan Ecolabel is available for all delivery categories, so the platform doesn't stop you from adding it to a service that isn't certified. It is your responsibility to add it only where it applies.
Only certified services: add the label only to delivery categories with the certified services listed in this article. Don't add it to all your delivery categories, routes or services.
Only the certified market: for example, Bring and PostNord services are certified in Sweden only, so don't show the label on Bring or PostNord deliveries in other countries.
Make it clear which options are certified: the label must never mislead shoppers or create doubt about which delivery options are ecolabeled. If a delivery category also offers services that aren't certified, don't add the label to it.
Logo: the Ingrid Merchant Platform offers one generic version of the Nordic Swan Ecolabel. The carriers have confirmed that the generic version is acceptable.
These rules come from the Nordic Ecolabelling guidelines for e-commerce vendors (version 2.0, March 2024). Nordic Ecolabelling updates the guidelines regularly. The current version is at nordic-ecolabel.org/regulations.
