Part of Ingrid Promise (Delivery Checkout)
This article explains the units and formats used for the delivery time promise in Ingrid Checkout, and how the delivery time is calculated.
Delivery time units
Ingrid Checkout supports five units for presenting delivery time to shoppers:
Day: counts every calendar day, including weekends and bank holidays, when adding the delivery time. For example, "Delivered in 1–2 days".
Business day: skips weekends and bank holidays when adding the delivery time. Useful when your carriers only deliver on weekdays.
Hour: for time-sensitive orders. For example, "Delivered in 9–10 hours".
Minute: for urgent deliveries. For example, "Delivered in 120 minutes".
Week: a broader estimate for orders that take longer. For example, "Delivered this or next week".
The unit only applies to the delivery time you set on the delivery category (step 3 below). Bank holidays and warehouse closing days are handled before that, whatever unit you choose.
How the delivery time is calculated
Shipping date: the calculation starts from the shipping date sent with the checkout session.
Handover to the carrier: Ingrid finds the next warehouse cutoff after the shipping date. A day with no cutoff counts as a day the warehouse is closed. Bank holidays are always skipped in this step, whatever unit you use.
Delivery time: the minimum and maximum from the delivery category are added to the handover date, in the selected unit.
Example: the parcel is handed to the carrier on 1 December, and the delivery category says 0–2. If 2 December were a bank holiday:
With Day, the checkout shows 1–3 December.
With Business day, the checkout shows 1–4 December.
Tips:
To ship on weekends, set cutoffs for Saturday and Sunday in your warehouse settings.
A shipping date that falls on a bank holiday still moves to the next working day, even with cutoffs on every day.
Delivery time formats
The format decides how the delivery time is shown to shoppers:
Days: the range of days until delivery. For example, "Delivered in 2 days".
Date: the delivery date. For example, "Delivered on 15 June".
Weekday: the day of the week. For example, "Delivered on Monday".
Weekday date: both the weekday and the date. For example, "Delivered on Monday 15/6".

Frequently asked questions
I use the Day unit. Why does a bank holiday still push the delivery date?
Bank holidays are applied when Ingrid calculates the handover to the carrier (step 2), before the unit is used. The Day unit only affects how the delivery time from the delivery category is counted.
Why does an order placed on a weekend move to Monday?
If your warehouse has no cutoff on Saturday or Sunday, Ingrid treats it as closed on those days. Add weekend cutoffs if you ship on weekends.
