Public holidays have a significant influence on order processing and delivery times. Ingrid’s Checkout takes these holidays into account, reflecting their impact on the delivery time promise shown during checkout.
Ingrid’s Concept of Public Holidays
Each year Ingrid updates the list of public holidays. Each bank holiday is considered in the delivery promise, and the timeframe is adjusted to account for non-working days. For instance, if the standard delivery time is stated as 1-2 business days and overlaps with the public holiday, the delivery promise will be extended to 2-3 business days.
Examples of Extended Delivery Promises
To illustrate the impact of public holidays on the delivery time promise, consider the following examples:
Both examples come from the Test Checkout widget for the same order: country Sweden, zip code 11228 (Stockholm), total cart value 10.00. Only the shipping date is different: 19 May 2022 (no public holiday) and 26 May 2022 (affected by a public holiday in Sweden).
Delivery option | Shipping date 19 May 2022 | Shipping date 26 May 2022 (public holiday) |
Budbee Home | Delivered in 3–4 business days | Delivered in 4–5 business days |
Budbee Box | Delivered in 3–4 business days | Delivered in 4–5 business days |
Postnord Service Point | Delivered in 4–5 business days | Delivered in 5–6 business days |
DHL Express | Delivered in 3–4 business days | Delivered in 4–5 business days |
Because of the public holiday, every delivery promise is extended by one business day. The shipping prices stay the same.
Managing Public Holidays for Merchants
By default, Ingrid applies public holiday adjustments to all merchants to ensure accurate delivery promises. However, if merchants wish to opt-out of this feature, they can easily do so by asking Iris, Ingrid's AI assistant, in the chat on the Ingrid Help Center. Iris can hand your request over to the Ingrid team or create a ticket for you. If you can't reach Iris, email [email protected].
