What is it?

Address book lets shoppers save and reuse multiple delivery addresses across checkouts. Instead of typing the same address every time, returning shoppers select a saved address — home, work, family, or anywhere they ship — and it auto-fills the delivery form.

Address book is part of Ingrid's Address form, available out of the box for Ingrid checkout.

Key benefits

For retailers

  • Faster repeat checkout — returning shoppers reuse saved addresses with one click

  • Higher checkout completion — eliminates the friction of re-entering known addresses

  • Fewer address errors — reused addresses have already been validated

  • Improved retention — smoother repeat purchases reinforce return behavior

For shoppers

  • One-click address selection — pick from saved addresses instead of typing

  • Multiple destinations — save home, work, family, or anywhere you ship to

  • Fewer typos — reused addresses don't need re-entry

How it works

  1. The shopper enters a delivery address during checkout

  2. The address is saved automatically to their address book

  3. On the next checkout, saved addresses appear as a list to choose from

  4. The shopper picks one → all fields auto-fill into the delivery form

  5. The selected address is used for delivery and carrier calculations

Shoppers can add new addresses, edit existing ones, or delete addresses they no longer need.

Use cases

Returning shopper, single saved address

A shopper who previously checked out sees their address pre-filled in the summary view. One click to confirm — straight to delivery options.

Multiple delivery destinations

A shopper ships to home, work, and a family member's address. They save all three and pick the right one per order — no manual re-entry needed.

Subscription and repeat retailers

For retailers with frequent return shoppers, address book turns checkout into a one-click experience after the first purchase.

Configuration

Address book is enabled by default for every Ingrid Address Form. Retailers who prefer a leaner checkout flow can choose to hide it.

FAQ

Q: Where is address book data stored?
A: In the shopper's browser, scoped to the retailer's domain. It is not stored in Ingrid's database or the retailer's customer database.

Q: Does the address book sync across devices?
A: No. Saved addresses are tied to the browser on the retailer's site, so they don't sync across devices or browsers.

Q: Can shoppers manage their saved addresses?
A: Yes. Shoppers can add new addresses, edit existing ones, and delete addresses they no longer need.

Q: Is address book shared across retailers?
A: No. Each retailer has its own address book scope. Addresses saved on one retailer's site don't appear on another's.

Q: How many addresses can a shopper save?
A: There is no defined limit. Practical limits depend on the shopper's browser storage capacity.

Q: What happens if a shopper clears their browser data?
A: Saved addresses are lost. The shopper would need to re-enter and re-save addresses on their next checkout.

Q: Can retailers see their shoppers' saved addresses?
A: No. Address book data lives in the shopper's browser, not in retailer or Ingrid systems.
