What is it?
Ingrid is a certified FedEx Compatible Solution provider in the EU. This is FedEx's certification programme for third-party software providers, confirming that Ingrid meets FedEx's standards for shipping label quality, integration reliability, and operational support.
For retailers shipping with FedEx, this certification means a seamless, fully integrated shipping experience inside the Ingrid platform — outbound bookings, returns, labels, and tracking, all managed without leaving Ingrid.
Key benefits
Integrated FedEx shipping — manage FedEx outbound shipping and returns directly from the Ingrid Merchant Platform, no separate FedEx tools required
Self-serve account linking — connect your FedEx account to Ingrid through a guided in-platform flow with multi-factor authentication (MFA) for secure verification
REST API foundation — built on FedEx's modern REST API with real-time tracking, enhanced address validation, flexible rate quoting, and OAuth 2.0 security
Joint support — as a certified partner, Ingrid has dedicated technical and commercial support channels with FedEx
⚠️ Important: SOAP API deprecation on September 30, 2026
FedEx is retiring its legacy SOAP-based shipping APIs. After September 30, 2026, SOAP integrations will stop functioning entirely.
If you currently ship with FedEx through Ingrid on the legacy SOAP integration, you need to migrate to the REST API integration before this date to avoid service disruption. The REST API integration is set up through the FedEx credential setup flow in the Ingrid Transport UI — see FedEx credential setup guide for details.
How it works
Authentication model
Ingrid holds parent credentials for FedEx as a Compatible Solution provider. When you connect your FedEx account, Ingrid generates merchant-specific child credentials linked to those parent credentials. All shipping operations for your account — bookings, labels, returns — use those child credentials.
This model:
Keeps each merchant's account isolated and secure
Enables near-instant onboarding without manual FedEx setup
Preserves your own FedEx-negotiated rates and discounts
When MFA and EULA setup is required
MFA (multi-factor authentication) and EULA (end user license agreement) setup is only needed when you use Ingrid to book outbound shipments or returns with FedEx.
If you use Ingrid only for checkout (displaying FedEx delivery options at checkout) or tracking (post-purchase tracking notifications), no MFA or EULA actions are required on your side — Ingrid handles this automatically in the background.
Setup process (high-level)
Sign the FedEx user license agreement within the Ingrid Transport UI
Enter your FedEx account number and registered address — must match FedEx records exactly
Complete multi-factor authentication (MFA) — verify ownership of the account via secure code (email, SMS, or voice call) or via recent invoice details
Ingrid generates and stores child credentials and creates a carrier contract for your account
Your contract is ready to use for all FedEx bookings
Contact Ingrid support for configuration set up
For step-by-step instructions, see FedEx credential setup guide.
FAQ
Q: Do I need credentials if I only use Ingrid Checkout or Tracking, not booking?
A: No, For checkout-only and tracking-only use, we don’t require any credentials or account number
Q: I'm currently shipping with FedEx through Ingrid via SOAP. Do I need to do anything?
A: Yes — you'll need to migrate to the REST API integration before September 30, 2026. Contact your Ingrid team to plan your migration.
Q: Can Ingrid complete the FedEx MFA on my behalf?
A: No. For production setups, MFA is a legal and contractual requirement that the FedEx account holder must complete. Ingrid cannot complete this step on your behalf.
Q: What happens after I complete MFA?
A: Ingrid generates merchant-specific child credentials and creates a carrier contract in your account. The contract is then ready to use for all FedEx booking requests.
Q: My MFA fails — what should I check?
A: The most common cause is a mismatch between the FedEx account number, registered address, or customer name as entered in Ingrid vs. as registered with FedEx. All values must match exactly. Also verify you have access to the email or phone number registered on your FedEx account, since the secure code is sent there.
